<p>Stress is a common part of daily life, but it’s important to manage it effectively to avoid negative impacts on our physical and mental health. Coping strategies can help reduce stress and promote overall well-being. One such strategy is kinesiology, which can help to address the emotional and physical aspects of stress.</p>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading">What is Kinesiology?</h4>



<p>Kinesiology is a holistic approach that combines the best of the East and West. It involves muscle checking to identify imbalances in the body and uses a range of techniques to restore balance and improve well-being. This can be done in the traditional way where you lay on a massage table (or sit in a chair) in my clinic. Or use the modern day technology of Zoom where I see clients all around Australia and the World.</p>



<p>One benefit of kinesiology is that it can help to address emotional stressors. Many people hold emotional stress in their bodies, which can lead to physical symptoms such as muscle tension and pain. Kinesiology can help to release this emotional stress and promote relaxation, reducing the physical symptoms of stress.</p>



<p>In addition to kinesiology, there are other coping strategies that can be helpful in managing stress in daily life.</p>

Coping strategies such as kinesiology, exercise, mindfulness, self-care, time management, and social support can all be helpful in reducing stress levels. Kinesiology, in particular, can help to address the emotional aspects of your stress and promote relaxation. <p>In today&#8217;s fast-paced world, many of us rely on television to unwind after a long day. However, watching TV at night can have negative effects on our sleep and overall health and well-being, as it can disrupt our circadian rhythm. In this article, we&#8217;ll discuss what the circadian rhythm is, how it works, and how watching TV at night can negatively impact it.</p>



<p><strong>What is the Circadian Rhythm?</strong></p>



<p>The circadian rhythm is an internal biological process that regulates the sleep-wake cycle in living organisms, including humans. It&#8217;s controlled by an internal &#8220;biological clock&#8221; located in the hypothalamus in the brain, which runs on a 24-hour cycle that is synchronized with the external environment, such as light and dark. This rhythm helps regulate various physiological processes, including hormone production, metabolism, and cellular activity, and plays a crucial role in regulating our sleep-wake cycle.</p>



<p><strong>How Does TV Watching at Night Affect the Circadian Rhythm?</strong></p>



<p>The blue light emitted by televisions and other electronic devices have been shown to suppress the production of the sleep hormone &#8220;melatonin&#8221;, making it harder for us to fall asleep. Additionally, the content of the programs we watch can be stimulating, causing our minds to become more alert and preventing us from feeling sleepy. The background noise from the TV can also make it more difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep.</p>



<p>In general, it&#8217;s recommended to avoid screens for at least an hour before bedtime, as the blue light exposure can interfere with our circadian rhythm and make it harder to fall asleep. This can lead to sleep deprivation and a host of other health problems, including stress, weight issues, low energy levels, and potentially a compromised immune system or other more serious issues (see below links).  The circadian rhythm can be affected in shift workers, who work the night shift also.</p>



<p><strong>The Benefits of a Properly Functioning Circadian Rhythm</strong></p>



<p>A properly functioning circadian rhythm has many benefits, including:</p>



<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>Improved sleep quality: A regular circadian rhythm can help regulate sleep patterns, leading to improved sleep quality and duration.</li><li>Increased energy and alertness: A healthy circadian rhythm can help regulate energy levels throughout the day, leading to increased alertness and productivity.</li><li>Better mood: The regular release of hormones and other biological processes regulated by the circadian rhythm can improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.</li><li>Better physical health: A healthy circadian rhythm has been linked to a reduced risk of various health conditions, including obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.</li><li>Improved cognitive function: Proper regulation of the circadian rhythm has been linked to improved memory, attention, and overall cognitive function.</li></ol>



<p>So, it&#8217;s important to be mindful of the effects that watching TV at night can have on our sleep and overall health. By minimizing exposure to screens and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, we can support a healthy circadian rhythm and reap the benefits of better sleep, improved mood, and better overall health.</p>

<p>No one wants to feel stressed when making decisions. However, sometimes you can make decisions without thinking them through properly. Sometimes you can avoid making them altogether.  You may or may not be aware that for every decision there is a consequence.</p>
<p>Here are some tips for you to try when making your decisions:</p>
<ol>
<li>Give yourself some time – Time to think about the problem at hand, so that you can make a decision you will be happy with.</li>
<li>Write a list of Pros and Cons – Once you have both lists written down you are able to compare them and make a decision that feels right for you.</li>
<li>Talk to someone – Everyone will have a different perspective on your problem, especially if they have made a similar decision in the past.</li>
</ol>
<p>If you are ever feeling overwhelmed or stressed about making a decision, it is important that you look after yourself.  Take a moment to Breathe and do something that you enjoy.</p>
<p>When you come back to making your decision, you will feel more confident and make an informed decision that you will be happy with.</p>
<p>If you find that your day to day life is being impacted by being indecisive, then it may be a good idea to talk to someone that you trust.  Or make an appointment with someone who can help you work through the process of decision making.  Someone who can guide you through different strategies and processes, to release stress and overwhelm.</p>

<p>A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.</p>
<p>As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!</p>
<p>Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off, and take a step up.</p>
<p>This is a great story, that I tell to some of my clients.</p>
