No one wants to feel stressed when making decisions. However, sometimes you can make decisions without thinking them through properly. Sometimes you can avoid making them altogether. You may or may not be aware that for every decision there is a consequence.

Here are some tips for you to try when making your decisions:

Give yourself some time – Time to think about the problem at hand, so that you can make a decision you will be happy with.

Write a list of Pros and Cons – Once you have both lists written down you are able to compare them and make a decision that feels right for you.

Talk to someone – Everyone will have a different perspective on your problem, especially if they have made a similar decision in the past.

If you are ever feeling overwhelmed or stressed about making a decision, it is important that you look after yourself. Take a moment to Breathe and do something that you enjoy.

When you come back to making your decision, you will feel more confident and make an informed decision that you will be happy with.

If you find that your day to day life is being impacted by being indecisive, then it may be a good idea to talk to someone that you trust. Or make an appointment with someone who can help you work through the process of decision making. Someone who can guide you through different strategies and processes, to release stress and overwhelm.

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all of his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement, he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off, and take a step up.

This is a great story, that I tell to some of my clients.

(I am not sure who wrote this… If anyone knows, then please leave a comment with the Authors name, so that he/she can be recognised)
